Sixth Annual Seed Swap hosted by Sammamish Valley Alliance & 21 Acres; March 5-19, 2022

Sammamish Valley Alliance and 21 Acres are partnering for the sixth annual Sammamish Valley Seed Swap, Saturday, March 5 through Saturday, March 19, 2022, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Hosted at 21 Acres in Woodinville, this event is free for all gardeners, small-scale farmers and for anyone interested in seeds even if you’re not planting this year. Come to the alcove outside the 21 Acres Farm Market each day of the swap to take seeds or leave seeds at this self-serve seed swap.

Whether, you’ve enjoyed a seed swap in the past, or you’ve never been to one, keep reading for this year’s information, guidelines and how to prepare.

Bringing Seeds:

Bring your saved seeds either in their original commercial packaging or your own well-marked container (no taller than 4-7/8”). Include the plant name, year collected, and planting and growing information. Seeds should be cleaned of hulls and debris, non-GMO, non-hybrid, and not older than 3 years. Sort your donated seeds into the labeled boxes by plant category and species.

Get Ready to Swap:

Seeds are often donated in full envelopes or otherwise large quantities. Plan to take only the portion that you intend to plant and bring your own containers. These can be envelopes that you recycle, little jars or pill bottles, or baggies. Bring a pen or marker and paper or tape to label your seeds with name and any planting and growing information on the original container.

Plant Your Spring Garden:

Have fun with your family, friends, and neighbors as you plan and sow your spring garden. Come back often over the two-week period to see what’s new in the offerings. Remember to take pictures and share your garden stories with us!

Remaining seeds after the event will be donated to local, community gardeners. Most important is to have fun with your family, friends and neighbors as you plan and get ready to plant your spring garden. Happy growing! 21 Acres is located at 13701 NE 171st St, Woodinville, WA.
