CANCELLED; Sammamish Valley Giant Pumpkin Weigh-In; Oct. 22, 2022

EVENT CANCELLED; Unfortunately it has been determined that the upcoming SVA Pumpkin Weigh-In scheduled for Sat. October 22nd needs to be cancelled.
Due to the unpredictability of this year’s weather (early spring flooding, loss of crops, excessive heat and no rain late in the season) the giant pumpkin harvest for our Sammamish Valley farmers was not as anticipated.
We hope everyone understands, and we’re crossing our fingers for a ‘bigger’ and better event next year.
PLEASE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FARMERS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AT YOUR LOCAL FARM STORE, FARM STAND AND MARKETS. AND CONSIDER SIGNING UP EARLY FOR YOUR 2023 CSA SUBSCRIPTION.

If you love pumpkins, this event is for you! Every year, the Sammamish Valley farmers compete in an epic contest to grow the biggest pumpkin in their fields, and we know you want to see them in person.

Saturday, October 22nd, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join the Sammamish Valley Alliance farmers and community members with their pumpkins on the 21 Acres patio (near Farm Market).  Costumes are encouraged! Celebrate these giant pumpkins and participate in other fun activities:

Marshall from Alki Farms.

-Bring your pumpkin grown from giant seed and enter the competition.

-Cast your vote for which pumpkins are, if not the biggest; the prettiest, ugliest, and those with the most unusual shapes!
-Meet the valley farmers and learn about their farming practices
-Bring your kids and skills for a pumpkin game and crafts.
-Wear your most festive fall costume (though not required!) Plenty of photo opportunities.
-Join our free Farm Walk to learn about regenerative farming practices on the 21 Acres campus
-Purchase organically-grown pumpkins (and other seasonal produce) from the 21 Acres Local Foods Farm Market
-And, go home with a few giant pumpkin seeds to grow your own next year.

We can’t wait to see you at the Sammamish Valley Giant Pumpkin Weigh-in!

All ages are welcome and activities are free. Events will be held outdoors on slightly uneven ground. Please wear good footwear with closed-toe shoes.
